We all have those moments when everything feels a bit too much. Maybe it’s exams, work stress, or just life piling on from all angles. When the pressure builds, it can be easy to doubt ourselves or feel stuck in a cycle of ‘I’m not doing enough.’ So how can you stay positive when the pressure builds?

But here’s the truth: you are doing enough. And with a few gentle self-care tools, you can ride the waves of pressure with a little more calmness, kindness, and positivity.

Start With A Few kind words to yourself

It might feel silly at first, but saying kind things to yourself, out loud, can really shift your mindset.

Affirmations like:

  • ‘I’m doing my best and that’s all I can do.’
  • ‘I am allowed to take things one step at a time.’
  • ‘ I’ve come so far already.’

Pick one that feels good and say it each morning while brushing your teeth or making your first brew of the day! Small habit, big impact.

I find in my therapy practice that affirmations are one of the most powerful ways to change your mindset. People really value them and they are very easy to do on a regular basis!

Try a little gratitude

When the pressure’s on, it’s easy to focus on everything that’s not going right. That’s where
gratitude journaling comes in. Just jotting down three things each day, maybe something that
made you smile, someone who checked in, or even just a resonating quote, can help you feel
more grounded and hopeful.
It doesn’t need to be perfect. It just needs to be real.

Gratitude journaling really works and can help with many different life situations, whether you are going through a break up or need some positivity for a stressful time. When people come into therapy, I often start them on the path of gratitude journaling to help them see beyond the negatives.

set goals that feel realistic

Forget the to-do list that’s longer than your arm. Instead, pick one or two things you can do
today. Things that feel manageable, not overwhelming. Whether that’s revising one topic, going for a walk, or just taking a proper lunch break, it all counts.
Celebrate the small wins. They matter.

mistakes aren’t the end of the world. they are learning opportunities

We’re human. We get things wrong. And that’s okay. Messing up isn’t a failure, it’s part of
figuring stuff out. Try not to beat yourself up over mistakes. Instead, ask: what did this teach
me? Then give yourself a hug (real or imaginary) and keep going.

zoom out- this is just one chapter

When you’re in the middle of something stressful, it can feel like it’ll last forever. But exams,
deadlines, and high-pressure moments are just a few pages in your story. There’s so much
more to come, and one tough week doesn’t define your worth, your future, or your potential.

Imagines your life as a pathway and you are journeying along on that pathway. This time in your life is just something you have come up against on that pathway.

A little challenge for you

Before you scroll on, pause for just a sec.

What’s one thing you’re proud of this week?
Big or small. Write it down. Put it on a sticky note. Say it out loud.
Because you deserve to see how far you’ve come.
You’ve got this. At The Little Daisy Self Care Company, we are cheering you on every step of the way.
